Cell Tower Report

I have attended two meetings regarding the proposed addition to the existing cell tower located at Chelsea Drive and 14 St.N.W. Wind Mobile is partnering with Shaw and Roger's Communications in order to upgrade cell phone infrastructure in Rosemont/Cambrain Heights. An application will be submitted to increase the height of this tower from 14.9 m to 35 m. The cell companies say that the tower has to be this tall in order to minimize the number of tower locations and maximize the coverage.Three companies will share the use of the tower , with the expended height providing for a doubling of the tower's capacity in future years.

The proposed design is a solid white structure over double the current height. When City representatives were asked why the tower couldn't be located in a less obtrusive location such as the Confederation Golf Course, the response was that cell towers could not be located on City properties...

The Rosemont Community Association needs your input. the RCA is willing to send a representative to the meeting on April 20, but we need to know the feelings of our Residents on this issue, please Email the Community at; rosemont_community@yahoo.ca with your opinion..
